Treating Migraine Headache Back of the Head Attacks
Migraines can be one of the most insufferable things to deal with during an already hectic day. They seem to come without warning, frequently stay for a very long time, and nothing we do seems to help. Believe it or not though, they are treatable and there are ways to avoid pain. RIght now, we re going to focus on getting rid of migraine headaches at the back of the head.
If you have been wondering whether you have a migraine or a tension headache, it s unfortunately probably a migraine. Because tension headaches are caused by muscles being too tight on the back of the head, but they are most commonly felt on the front of the head with, for lack of a better word, a constricted feeling. So, if you re experiencing pain in the back of your head that feels like an extreme headache, chances are that is a migraine. That being said, if that lingers for more than a few days are so, you should definitely see doctor to make sure that it isn t a concussion. A concussion is a very serious injury and can actually lead to going into a coma, so it s better to be safe than sorry.
As far as how to get rid of a migraine headache at the back of the head, the first thing that you want to do is alter your environment to prevent the migraine from getting worse.
So, if you re migraines are light sensitive (which almost all are) you want to move into a nice dark and quiet room to prevent it from getting worse. While this won t immediately make your migraine better, it will prevent it from getting any worse which is a huge step in the right direction.
Next, you want to make sure that you re properly hydrated. If you re drinking any coffee or soda, throw it away. Such beverages are only going to make your life more difficult. You want to drink water, juice, or decaf tea and that s all. In fact, try to drink at least 1 cup of water as soon as you feel the migraine headache coming on. If you re migraine is caused by dehydration, this can be one of the fastest ways to fix the migraine headache at the back of your head, and you ll be amazed at how much better you feel in such a short period of time.
If you continue getting migraines in back of the head, they could be because it is a nutrient that you need OR because a certain food has triggered them. If you seem to continue getting them even if you re keeping yourself hydrated, try keeping a food journal for a few weeks and mark down when you get your migraines. See if you can find any correlation between what you re eating and when you get the headaches. It is extremely common amongst those whom suffer from migraine headaches at back of head to get long term relief just by making a simple diet change or two. That said, don t overlook the usefulness of this techniques. Keep a headache journal and write in it often.
All these techniques may sound really simple, but they do indeed work and you ll notice a huge difference in how often you get you back of head migraine headaches if you give them a try!
